DYEING & PRINTING & FINISHING

In any wet process house one comes across departments such as  :

Bleaching

Dyeing

Printing

Finishing

In each of the above departments lot of chemicals , dyes are used in processing. At the end of any process , the drain liquor contains lot of unused chemicals , dyes and they go to a common tank. This is called effluent and it should be scientifically treated , before letting off.

That treatment is called Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) , where there are settling tanks, flocculation tanks, filters , and final let out into a common drain. If we take certain steps from the beginning itself , we can reduce the quantity of effluent to a considerable extent.

They are :

1. Use of minimum quantity of water.Usage of water is essential , but control of consumption is also equally important.

2. Use of optimum quantity of chemicals.

3. Use of minimum, optimum quantities of dyes in the process.

So , the more control is exercised on these above three parameters , better will be the control on final effluent discharge from a processing unit. So, means less load on Effluent  Treatment  Plant (ETP).

Many units have their own effluent treatment plant . If they can not afford to have their own , they join in a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP),where dye effluent from various units is treated and then only let off.

At any given time a ETP or a CETP is a must for any wet processing unit.

Can I now invite the comments from my friends from this area of specialisation.
